About
Robbiechicago, otherwise known as Rob Holloway, isn’t from Chicago at all. He’s from the equally cosmopolitan international hub of Swindon. It is this accident of birth, coupled with a father intent on passing on his own sordid allegiances to his sons, that led to Robbie becoming a Swindon fan.
Robbie moved out of Swindon at the age of 9 and found himself growing up in Southampton, surrounded by Saints fans, most of whom lapped up the chance to rub the relative fortunes of the two clubs in our hero’s face. This galvanised Robbie’s love for his club, and he’s been supporting the mighty Reds from afar ever since.
Robbie now lives in Enfield, north London. He’s been a season ticket holder on and off over the years, weighing up the opposing pulls of watching his club week in, week out and having a life/some money. As a result, Robbie tends to go to as many away games as home. His farthest journey was up to Sunderland, and he’s joined an illustrious band of committed fans of shit teams who can claim to have been to Grimsby for a midweek game. He only wishes it had been a miserable Tuesday night in January, but you can’t have everything.
